STC — Load Transfer System
A new structural architecture for stringed instruments
STC — Load Transfer System is a structural architecture developed by Toca to redefine how the forces generated by the strings are conducted, distributed, and absorbed throughout the guitar’s structure.
Developed from an approach that integrates structural engineering, acoustics, and innovation in instrument construction, STC establishes a specific path for transferring the mechanical loads produced by string tension and by the interaction between the bridge, soundboard, and body of the instrument.
More than a reinforcement system, STC was conceived as an integrated structural architecture in which each element performs a function within an assembly designed to work in a coordinated manner.
The fundamental principle of STC is to control load transfer without compromising the vibrational freedom the instrument requires. In this way, the structure seeks to reconcile two essential and apparently conflicting requirements: strength and acoustic response.
By directing and distributing forces in a controlled manner, the STC architecture seeks to reduce unwanted stress concentrations while preserving the conditions necessary for the instrument to respond efficiently to the energy of the strings.
This philosophy allows the structure to be understood not merely as a collection of individual components, but as an integrated mechanical system in which load transfer is part of the instrument’s acoustic conception itself.
STC is an exclusive Toca technology protected by patent, representing one of the foundations of the brand’s technological identity.
For intellectual property reasons, the specific geometric, dimensional, constructional, and functional elements that constitute the system are not detailed in this presentation.
What can be presented is the concept: an architecture created to control the path of forces within the guitar and transform load transfer into an active part of the instrument’s structural and acoustic design.
It is this integration of engineering, construction, and music that defines the STC concept.
